Students, parents, teachers, administrators, and prominent members of our school community
attended the 1st annual PAUS STEM night held on Tuesday, Dec. 9th from 5:30 - 7:30PM.
Over 100 participants visited 12 stations where they learned concepts related to science,
technology, engineering and math. Students were programming Lego robots, deconstructing
technological devices, creating contraptions to accomplish a simple task (Rube Goldberg),
creating music with Makey Makeys & Scratch, practicing code using Hour of Code activities,
and learning concepts of green chemistry to create a sustainable future (Beyond Benign).
There were also several groups representing Cambridge’s out of school opportunities such as
Cambridge Community Center, East End House, and Youth Cities. The night concluded with
members from Danger!Awesome discussing their open-access studio, makerspace and learning
center in Central Square which is open for learners of any age. The members of the PAUS
STEM committee are very thankful for those teachers who contributed their time, effort, and
resources to make this night a success!
