To kick off National Volunteer Month, the Putnam Avenue staff participated in an
afternoon of community service. With help from the folks at East End House,
approximately 30 staff members manned stations to assemble dry soup mixes.
Elbow deep in bouillon cubes, tri-colored pasta, and recipe card labels, teachers and
administrators worked together to ensure that each soup mix was made with care.
The soup will be given to families in need who access the East End House food
pantry, as well as to Kennedy-Longfellow and Putnam Avenue families who receive
weekly bags of food through the Weekend Backpack Program. Besides having the
opportunity to feel good about helping community members in need, the staff also
utilized the time to further build relationships with each other and participate in an
activity that wasn’t related to their everyday jobs!
