Team PromiseThe Student Government Association held its 1st Annual Presidential Team Debate on November 2. Four Presidential Team candidates squared off on questions from the audience on school culture, leadership qualities, and more.

Congratulations to Team Promise, which was elected to lead the Putnam Avenue Upper School as ’17-’18 Student Gov’t officers. All four teams are applauded for their risk-taking in the campaign, debate, and election. Well done!

This month, ELA students are continuing independent reading, which they have done an incredible job at maintaining throughout the quarter. In addition to the class, text students are reading books of their choice each night for homework. At the end of first quarter over 80% of 8th grade students are reading consistently, meaning that they are reading all or most nights after school and at home, are able to discuss their texts and are actively seeking out new texts, whether in the library or with peers.
