GoodreadsAs a librarian and tech specialist, I love when literacy and technology merge to make my life easier. To keep the book titles that I’ve read organized, I use Goodreads. This website allows users to select books that they’ve already read, rate the books (1 to 5 stars), keep track of books they plan to read, read book synopses and even enter their own reviews. Since it is a social networking site, users must be 13 years of age or older to sign up.

If your child has a Facebook account, they can also sign into Goodreads with their Facebook account. This will enable Facebook friends to see their selections of what they’ve read or hope to read. This site will also give suggestions for the user based on what they’ve read thus far. It’s fun, it keeps track of your reading and it helps you find new titles for your next read. So parents, try it out and see if it’s a good fit for your 13 year old student!
