Counselor's Corner: June 2018

Counselor's Corner: June 2018
Posted on 06/21/2018
While the month of June seems to always fly by, our staff has been sure to take the time this month to help our students with their forward planning. This has taken a couple of different forms ranging from summer planning to grade level transition planning. Ensuring that students take advantage of all of the amazing opportunities offered in Cambridge this summer that will keep them active, engaged, and safe is no easy feat for students, parents, or staff. Working together has proven to be successful in getting many of our students into the various programs offered. The city provides a guide each year to help with this. If you or your student want to access that guide, along with additional resources, it can be found on the Find It Cambridge website at www.finditcambridge.org.

Getting ready for the next grade is always an exciting and anxiety producing time for all. In order to reduce some of that angst, our teachers have worked to help students prepare for what will be expected as they transition to the next grade. What will be the same? What will be different? How much homework will I get? These, along with many other questions are typical for students to ask and can easily be answered. We will take the time, however busy, to reflect on the year, discuss what has worked, what hasn’t worked, and how successful we were with our individual goals. While the last month of school is often a mad rush to get things done, we will continue to carve out time in order to do the important work of reflection.
