Megan Huang Wins Spot in the Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) Eastern Junior District Band

MeganMegan Huang, current eighth grader at Putnam Avenue Upper School (former Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School student), won a spot in the Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) Eastern Junior District Band! Auditions were held this past Saturday at Needham High School and Megan will now head to Lincoln-Sudbury High School on March 13-14 to perform with the MMEA Eastern Junior District Band as the first chair flute.

During the audition process, Megan competed against 91 other 7th-9th grade flute players in the Eastern District of Massachusetts and finished second overall! These auditions are very competitive and winning a spot is not guaranteed so congratulations are certainly in order for Megan!

The MMEA Eastern Junior District Band and Orchestra ensembles are comprised of 7th-9th grade students that audition for placement. The MMEA Eastern District includes the towns and cities of Acton, Bedford, Boston, Boxborough, Brookline, Cambridge, Carlisle, Concord, Dedham, Dover, Framingham, Lincoln, Littleton, Medfield, Millis, Milton, Natick, Needham, Newton, Quincy, Sherborn, Somerville, Sudbury, Waltham, Watertown, Wayland, Wellesley, Westford, Weston, and Westwood.
