In science, students are coming to the end of the Chemistry unit by applying their understanding of particles to give a scientific explanation of a scenario by making a comic. The end of the unit district assessment was given on Thursday, February 15th. Also, students wrapped up their research for the Genius Time projects, which included a presentation in class on Friday, February 16th.

In ELA, students are finishing up their “Good Life” research essays. Students are studying their future career options and are preparing their essays for publishing. Right before the break, we will revisit our PAUS writing assessments, revise our writing, and set goals for the next assessment.

In math, students are finishing up the area and surface area unit. Thus far, we have constructed polyhedra from 2-D nets and even reversed the process to decompose polyhedra into a net. We are currently exploring perfect squares and cubes and building models with snap cubes to create a foundation for a future unit, arithmetic in base ten. Up next--ratios!

In social studies, students have started Unit 3: Mesopotamia. Students are studying the rise of civilization in the fertile crescent and identifying which characteristics define a civilization.
