Grade 8 Update: March 28, 2017
Posted on 03/28/2017
On Wednesday, February 15th, 8th graders went to see the special exhibit “Leonardo Da Vinci: The Genius” at the Museum of Science as part of their Age of Ideas unit. Students had a mini-scavenger hunt, and can now tell you why Da Vinci was considered a “Renaissance man.” Next up in the Age of Ideas is research into individuals who will then have cover letters and resumes ready to pitch an idea for the next creative endeavor.

Wrist BandEarlier this month the 8th grade students at Putnam Avenue Upper School received UNICEF Youth Powered step bands. Our health teacher, Ms. Sammy, applied for a grant and made this possible for all 8th grade students. These bands will allow students to track their steps each day and compete in an Advisory challenge for the most steps. However, this program will also help give relief and support to countries in need based on the number of steps you take each day. When students reach 12,500 steps a day a package is given to those in need through UNICEF. So far, advisories have been excited to see where they are as a group each day. Thank you Ms. Sammy!
