Reading is the best way to keep growing during the summer and to keep from losing all of the work that you have done all year long. It’s also a wonderful way to entertain yourself and escape into a new world!
At Putnam Ave., we are committed to supporting all of our students in developing vibrant, engaged, and empowered reading lives, which is why
we expect all students to read for 20 minutes a day, every day, throughout the summer. It is also expected that all
students read a minimum of five (5) books of their choice during the summer.
Please make sure to keep a log and list of books read (see link below) that you will return to your English teacher in September, when we will kick off our school year by discussing books and developing a strong independent reading program in our classrooms.
We wish you a happy and safe summer – filled with reading!
