Quebecois Historian and Rapper, Webster Visits Putnam Ave.
Posted on 03/14/2016
WebsterPutnam Avenue welcomed its first-ever international guest on March 4, 2016, who was sponsored by the Quebec Delegation of Boston. 8th grade French students from all four upper schools gathered together to celebrate Mois de la francophonie (Francophone Month) in our brand new auditorium. Our honored guest was Quebecois historian and rapper, Webster. The students enjoyed a writing workshop where Webster broke down different types of rhymes and rhythms for the students. Then the students were given an opportunity to create their own raps. Webster even rapped one of our very own student’s work on stage for the entire audience. To close out the event, Webster gave us a performance of a few of his songs. But, the visit would not be over without free t-shirts, autographs, and selfies with Webster himself. This was an overall exciting and fun event for our 8th graders and the French department. We look forward to hosting events like this again in the future.
