The
academic program for the Putnam Avenue Upper School reflects a
multi-year visioning, planning, and curriculum development process
established through the Innovation Agenda. The goal of this effort is to
provide all Cambridge students with a superior academic and social
experience that will increase achievement, close achievement gaps, and
build 21st century skills.
Over the past year, CPS curriculum
developers and school faculties worked together to plan, design,
implement, and evaluate new curriculum in each content area. This new,
rigorous academic program includes opportunities for supports and
acceleration within mixed-ability classrooms that welcome all students.
The program is aligned with the Common Core State Standards and
Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
Our
academic program includes both required curriculum areas and
opportunities for students to make choices based on their interests,
including choice of world language and an array of electives in the
fine arts and other areas. Teaching and learning are supported by
leading-edge technology including Enoboards in classrooms and use of
Chromebooks and ThinkPads.
